In the “Church-Planting” world, the term’s “Set-up/Tear-down” are two of the most commonly used terms there are. Anyone who has ever helped start, lead, or grow a church plant knows that managing a quality set-up/tear-down process is an important contribution to the overall success of the church. The vision for Radiant Life as it relates to this process is to be able to transform a space like a school, into an auditorium that facilitates an environment primed for engaging times of worship through music, teaching, and other creative elements that highlight the goodness and greatness of God. We want this environment to be comfortable for those who experience it, and we want each family, person, and guest to be able to feel free to be themselves!

Creating an environment like this, in a place like a school, takes a lot of work and a lot of help. That’s were YOU come in. We want you to be a part of creating that transformation.

The Commitment:

This is a medium level commitment as it relates to the amount of time and energy it takes to pull it off.

The time commitment includes being available either to Set-up on Saturday Mornings, from 8:30am to 9:30am. And/or being able to stick around following the Sunday Service for about 35-45 mins for Tear-down. We love it when a volunteer can do both, but would be grateful if he/she could at least commit to one of the two times. The hope is to have enough teams members to create a rotation and schedule. That means you would not have be expected to be “on” each and every week. We would like to give our volunteers the option to serve as much or as little as they want.

Some of the Responsibilities include:

Auditorium:

• Setting up the Cafe area.
• Unpacking and placing Signage.
• Setting up Pipe and Drape room dividers.
• Setting up Chairs.
• Setting up the vip tables, resource tables and communion tables.

The Grove (Children’s Auditorium):

• Setting up the kids life-group rooms.
• Setting up the infants rooms.
• Placing Carpet squares.
• Setting up Pipe and Drape Room Dividers.

The entire process to set up Radiant Life as a Church takes about 45mins-1hr with the help of 10 people. And like wise to tear it all down and store it. The RLF leaders make it a priority to continually tweak the process with the intentions of simplifying and making things easier and faster to pull off.

First impressions are very important. Right?! We believe they are at Radiant Life. Making an AWESOME first impression to visitors to RLF (VIP’s), regular guests, and long time friends of RLF as they walk into the building is high on the list of priorities for RLF. The “Front-Door” experience is often the “First-Touch” for many and it can have the power to set the tone for the entire morning. As people walk through the doors of Radiant Life, we want them to feel welcome, to feel invited in, to feel special, and to feel loved.

In order for us to make this vision a reality at RLF, we need volunteers who are willing to share their outgoing personalities, and smiling faces with people who walk through the front door. If it fits the personality of the Volunteer, this can be one of the easiest roles to play. Easiest, but still one of the most important.

The Commitment:

As mentioned earlier, if this role is complimentary to your personality, this position is really easy. So this role would be considered an easy level commitment.

The Time commitment includes showing up at 9:25am on Sunday Mornings. From 9:25am-9:45am would be prep time, and then this volunteer would be greeting people from 9:45am-10:10am.

Some of the Responsibilities include:

• Prepping the front door area, making sure the door is open, making sure umbrella’s are available if  the weather calls for them, gathering flyers and other promotional materials to be handed out.
• Cheerfully Smiling
• Bringing an energetic attitude as you greet
• Being talkative and friendly (conversations can be short).
• Directing traffic as the guest of Radiant Life exit the building following the service.

Our culture today is a “Starbucks drinking”, “coffee shop hopping”, “brunch loving bunch”! We realize that and we want to capitalize on some of the great benefits that come from just hanging out, having conversation with friends over coffee and a bite to eat. So each week at Radiant Life, we provide light refreshments to all of our guests. This is something we believe helps create a sense of community within our Sunday morning environment, and something also that relaxes the atmosphere. We intentionally set aside 15-20 mins before our service starts as a time for people to enjoy these refreshments while hanging out with friends and enjoying great conversation.

Setting up this Café area is simple, and it can be an art! We need volunteers to help provide the refreshments, and help set out the matierals. As far as the area itself, including the rolling Café bar, that will all be set up for you.

The Commitment:

This Role would be considered a Medium Level commitment. It would require some of the volunteer’s personal time to gather the refreshments (donuts and bagels) before sunday’s service. This would not be an every week commitment, but ideally a “once-a-month” commitment. We hope to have a rotation of 3-4 people who each of take 1 weekend a month.

The time commitment would include coming in at 9:15am to set up the area. Time to gather the refreshements from the local dunkin doughnuts (exit 23 on hwy 21) would need to be considered in the time commitment as well. It would take about 15-20 mins following the service to clean everything up.

Some of the Responsibilities include:

• Picking up the refreshments (donuts and bagels) from the local dunkin doughnuts (exit 23 on hwy 21).
• Setting out the coffee and coffee cups. (all provided)
• Setting out matierals for coffee (sugar, creamers, stirrers-all provided)
• Setting out napkins, plates, bottled waters, etc. (all provided)

Additional Responsibilities would include preparing (3) communion tables with the appropriate elements (juice and bread-provided), and lighting the candles per table.

“The Grove” is the area our children spend time in each Sunday morning. We want their time in “The Grove” to be the best part of their week. Through music, drama, games, crafts, and activities we bring the Bible to life each week. We want the children to take to heart what they have learned and see them live it out in their daily lives because that is what Jesus wants us to do. To make that happen, we need a group of volunteers passionate about guiding and leading our children to a relationship with Christ. Whether it be a three year old asking about how God made the world or a 4th grader asking why they need Jesus in their lives, we know our volunteers touch the lives of our children in a powerful way. Making a positive impact for Christ with our children each week takes a lot of work. This is where YOU come in. We want you to be a part of transforming children’s lives.

The Commitment

This is a high level commitment as it relates to the amount of time and energy it takes to make it work.

The time commitment is for you to be available to serve every Sunday in a month. You would need to arrive at church at 9:45 am to greet children and be prepared to lead the children until 11:20 am. We ask our volunteers to work on a monthly rotation. You would work one month (ex. March) and be off for several months (ex. April and May) before being asked to lead another month (ex. June). We continually try to ask new people to serve in an effort to increase our volunteer base so people will not have to serve but a few times each year. For our children’s safety and security, we require background checks on all volunteers working in “The Grove.”

Some of the Responsibilities include:

Babies

• Work with children ages birth up to 2 years old
• During play, introduce the main ideas of a particular Bible story
• Diapering and feeding the children, as needed
• Assist in cleaning up the babies area so the tear down volunteers could pack everything up

Preschool

• Work with children ages 2 to Pre-K in a group setting
• With provided curriculum, plan and carry out a lesson focused on a particular Bible story
• Assist in cleaning up the preschool area so the tear down volunteers could pack everything up

Grade school

• Work with children in grades K – 5th grade
• With provided curriculum, plan and carry out several small group activities after the leaders in this area share the Bible story
• Assist in cleaning up the grade school area so the tear down volunteers could pack everything up

Volunteering on the Video is really fun, and even better, it’s really simple! If you love working with technology, or have a desire to learn more about it, this would be a great fit for you!

Each and every weekend at RLF, the ‘Video’ Team is responsible setup/teardown and operation of the video console and video equipment that is used for displaying all of the media content created for sundays and this team is also the ones responsible for recording the services using the video camera. The main peices of equipment used by the video team include a Mac laptop with ‘ProPresenter’ Video presentation software loaded on it, a video projector and projector cart, a video camera, and small mixer for audio. All of the video content for the services and lyrics are loaded on the laptop during the week prior to the sunday experience by the Director of Music and Creative.

The Team Roles inlude:

1. Setup/Tear down Volunteers: ( 2 people needed each week)
2. ProPresenter Operator: ( 4 people needed total, one per week, weekly rotation). NOTE: We have 2 spots open for this role.
3. Camera Operator: ( 4 people needed total, one per week, weekly rotation).

Our hope and desire is to have a full team so that a rotation becomes possible, but Volunteers are always welcome to serve as much as they would like.

A large part of what we do on Sunday Mornings is affected by the Audio/Sound element. In order for our Worship Team to be the most effective,  the video content to have the biggest impact, and for the Message delivered by our Pastor or Guest Speaker to be heard the clearest, it’s very important that the Audio/Sound element function at it’s best level. With that said, we place a lot of emphasis on making it the best it can be.

Are you the person who loves to mess with your home theater system? Or do you adjust your car stereo often seeking the perfect mix? Can you hear particular instruments above others when listening to a favorite recording of your favorite band? You might be the perfect candidate for this team. We need Technically savvy Volunteers who are prepared to help us meet that goal. Individuals who are willing to be particular and precise, and who are willing to participate in training sessions that will help Sound Volunteers grow in their knowledge of the Sound. If you enjoy working with technology, and are interested in the Audio/Sound field, this would be a great place to invest your time and energy.

The Commitment:

Because of the level of training necessary and the time commitment it would require in order to achieve the desired level of performance, this team would be a “High” level commitment. But it can be done, if the individual is driven and eager to learn.

You may have heard of the success, been invited to, or even participated in a series of summer movies, better known as “Movies in the Park“, that took place over multiple dates this past summer, right here in Huntersville!. We at Radiant Life Fellowship, with some help from our local church friends, we’re responsible for bringing that event to you and your families, and we’re honored to assist the city of Huntersville in providing an event that you’re entire family could enjoy, and enjoy totally free!!

It’s our hope to continue to provide quality events, that the entire family can come and participate in, YEAR ROUND!!

So the fourth Friday Night, of Each month (except for the month of May and December), 2010, RLF will host a free, Movie Night for the community at Blythe Elementary School. Just like the one’s this past summer, these are awesome opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy a movie experience, on a BIG SCREEN, accompanied by a top notch, quality image and sound system, just like you would at your local theater, except this experience is FREE!

For the most part, we’ve got pulling off this event down to a science. But we could always use some extra hands the night of the movie. This is a major way in which the people of Radiant Life get to serve and know the people of Blythe. And it’s so FUN!

The Commitment:

This Role would be considered an Easy Level commitment. You show up and we’ll give you something to do. The timeframe for the movies is: 6:15pm-8:30pm. We ask volunteers to arrive at 5:45pm. Tear-down afterwards is a breeze with so many people, we usually get it all put up in about 30 mins.

Radiant Lifer’s have invested time and money into the people of the mountainous community of Bayonnais, Haiti over the last couple years. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. All of our efforts are in partnership with a pastor (Actionnel Florishima) and an organization (OFCB) that includes a school for 1800 kids, child sponsorship, a church, a grainery, and a future medical center. We travel to Bayonnais at least once a year.
